Children express their Feelings and Emotions by Voice

This video shows how we can teach the meaning of the feelings. The teacher shows pictures to children, and they have to identify what the name is and which voice they would use if the felt this feeling.

I have doubts if this is a usefull  method to work every day but I think that we can use this exercise to konw different feelings and to identify caracterits each of them have.

TEN ESTRATEGIES TO EDUCATE CHILDREN IN EMOTIONAL INTELIGENCE

There, I will put a article who give us ten strategies for educate our children in emotional intelligence.

The article is in Spanish so, I will do a summary in English below.
Feeling, thinking, acting are very important three points in our life. Knowledge, comprehension and feeling control are necessary to live adequately in our society.

1.      CONTROLLING OF ANGER

After six months children begin to develop their anger. Therefore, it is very important for them to learn how they can control those emotions or how they can correct them. Children understand more than we think and for this reason, we have to teach them speaking.

2.      RECOGNIZING BASIC FEELINGS

After two years, children begin to interact with adults so we can work some exorcises to recognise feelings; happiness, sadness, fear...

3.      LEARNING THE NAMES OF THEIR FEELINGS

Up to five years, it would be perfect for children to be able to name emotions.

4.      KNWING HOW TO FACE EMOTIONS WITH EXAMPLES

Habitually, children are overcome with their emotions. When the huff finishes, we can teach them what they can do before shouting or hitting.

5.      DEVELOPING HIS EMPATHY

Is necessary reason with children constantly. For example, we can use questions like: “How do you think that your grand dad feels after you say this?”

6.      DEVELOPING THEIR COMMUNICATION

Speak with children, make them questions, give examples... We have to let them express their feelings.

7.      THE IMPORTANCE OF KNOWING TO LISTEN

Children should know keeping silence and paying attention, active listening.

8.      BEGINING WITH SECUNDARY EMOTIONS

When they are 10-11, feelings like love, shame or anxiety begin. With good communication, they can speak about it.

9.      ENCOURAGING A DEMOCRATIC DIALOGE

The family is the best example of the society and is the best way to learn.

10.   OPENING FOR FEELING EXPRESSION

School and their house are the first´s scenery where they develop their life. If we offer the comfort to express and communicate, they will also do it in other context when they grow up.

NUMERATE FEELINGS

This is a video called "Teaching Kids a Simple Way to Express Their Feelings" done by Steve Reifmand. He is a teacher and he shares in his video blog some of the methods he uses at class. In this case, he depicts a numbering game in which children express how they feel using numbers from one to ten (one being no good and ten being great).

A positive result of this method is that since children can see who is not feeling good, they try to cheer that child up during the day.

I think that is an interesting method that helps visualize how everyone feels in a simple way.

Thanks to this practice, all the children are involved in helping the rest.

I would like to introduce this technique in my method because it doesn´t take much time and you can apply it with all children that know numbers. I would need to develop a similar technique for children who don´t know the numbers yet.

Although I like the idea, I would like to add other techniques which I would use in case low numbers repeat many days in a row. Perhaps, there might be problems that need deeper work.

CONTROL METHODS FOR CHILDREN´S FEELINGS

This blog is a diary of a learning process in an attempt to design a method to help children control their feelings.

I will weekly upload a summary of the work done each week. The content will be divided in four parts: analysis of theoretical background about already used methods, design of my own method, practical activities  with children to put in practice my method and evaluation of my work.
